Online Presence

The way we present ourselves online is vital to telling the Academy story, and it is crucial to present a consistent image.

Use of images, video, appropriate fonts, colors and branding must be consistent with the principles outlined in this guide.

Additionally, all official websites must be Section 508 compliant, and should be created with the principles of accessibility and responsive design in mind.

Below are additional considerations and requirements for maintaining an online presence.

Contact Information

You are encouraged to provide contact information on pages, however, any emails listed must be official, government-provided addresses. The use of commercial emails is not permitted. If you have questions about what constitutes a commercial email, please contact usafa.branding@afacademy.af.edu for more information.

Additionally, it is considered a best-practice to list a regularly checked organizational email, instead of an individual’s email address. This ensures emails remain accurate despite any staff turnover.

Official Photos

Official government photos must be used for staff directories and biographies. Candid or personal photography is not permitted for this use. Staff members requiring photos should contact the Creative Services studio at photos@afacademy.af.edu to schedule an appointment.

Official photos will meet the guidance illustrated on page 31 of AF Handbook 35-115.
