Learn how the government shutdown is affecting services and facilities at the U.S. Air Force Academy. As a result of the government shutdown, the following departments at the U.S. Air Force Academy will be affected: 10 AIR BASE WING: SECURITY & SAFETY: Defenders & firefighters are exempted. They are on post and on shifts under normal schedules. Ambulance services are contracted and remain on shift and on site. First Lt. Dominic Vicino distinguished himself by risking his life to save three others March 31 at Miramar Beach, Florida. Cadet sets sights on China with Schwarzman Scholarship

Cadet 1st Class Benjamin Hook will study global affairs at Beijing’s Tsinghua University, courtesy of the Schwarzman scholarship. “Having taken two years of Mandarin language study at the Academy, I look forward to experiencing Chinese culture and language firsthand,” he said.
