Cadets can propel In the Stairwell to the semifinals on America’s Got Talent by voting for the Air Force Academy’s all-male a Capella group Aug. 15-16.

Voting begins at 6 p.m. (MT), Aug. 15, and ends 5 a.m. (MT), Aug. 16. Viewers can check the local listings for broadcast times for the group’s nationally-televised performance and cast a vote.

“We are ready to fly,” said In the Stairwell vocalist Benjamin Hightower. “We are going to do our best and hope America supports us.”

Top of Form

In the Stairwell advanced to the show’s quarterfinals Aug. 8 after performing pop-group NSYNC’s “Bye Bye Bye” in front of a live audience.

Judges Simon Cowell, Howie Mandel, Heidi Klum and Mel B, and pop-singer Seal, a guest judge, agreed the group should advance.

Seal stood and cheered the group.

“It’s obviously where your military training comes in,” he said. “The discipline that’s required showed through tonight.”

The formerly-unimpressed Mandel said the performance was fun and made him smile.

“You stepped it up from last time,” he said.

In the Stairwell was formed in 2004 by freshmen cadets who sang together in the only place they could, their dormitory stairwells.

The group was invited by America’s Got Talent producers to compete on the show after they watched a YouTube video of the group last fall.
