Middle and Early High School
Now is the time to start preparing for the U.S. Air Force Academy. There are four factors we look for in a future cadet: academics, athletics, leadership and character. Starting early gives you the best shot at being a competitive candidate for the Academy!

-
Stay Active
Join a sports team and participate in school and community activities. If your school does not have a sports program, find a local program or recreation center. Physical fitness is an important aspect of cadet life, so we recommend incorporating physical activity into your daily lifestyle. Keep in mind when choosing activities that quality matters over quantity.
-
Become a Leader
Join a program that centers on building leadership skills like JROTC, Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts or Civil Air Patrol. Take on leadership positions in your school or community: become a team captain, serve as editor of the yearbook, participate on school council, run a school club, lead a community service project.
-
Demonstrate Good Character
Find ways to serve your school and community: become a peer tutor, participate in community service, get involved with local church and community helping agencies the work to improve your community. Practice being a good teammate, classmate and citizen.
