
Bio
Capt Sophia G. Schwalbe is an instructor within the Department of Mathematical Sciences, Dean of Faculty, United Sates Air Force Academy, Colorado. She is currently teaching a modernized version of calculus to freshmen cadets.
Capt Schwalbe commissioned through Reserve Officer Training Corps in May 2017. She graduated from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University with a Bachelor of Science in Space Physics in 2017. In 2019, she earned her Master of Science degree in Applied Physics from the Air Force Institute of Technology, and in 2021 she earned her Doctorate of Philosophy in Applied Physics from the Air Force Institute of Technology. She has a total of seven years active duty and served as a program manager, section chief, and executive officer. Her previous assignments include Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio and Kirtland Air Force Base, New Mexico. Prior to her current position, she was the executive officer for the Air Force Research Laboratory, Space Vehicles Directorate at Kirtland Air Force Base, New Mexico.
