The Department of Mathematical Sciences is the largest academic department at the U. S. Air Force Academy. Our programs offer a broad yet focused education in problem solving, analytical reasoning and technical communication, skills that will allow cadets to tackle the complex operational, managerial and technical problems that routinely challenge Air Force officers.

Mathematical Sciences Faculty & Staff

Cadets in our programs historically perform well in areas such as operations research, physics, engineering, business administration, economics, computer science, law, medicine, meteorology, and, of course, mathematics and applied mathematics.

Maj Erin Almand tests COVID samples By Nicole Cox, USAFA Graduate Liaison When USAFA made the difficult decision to send the majority of the cadet wing home in March, its faculty and staff immediately got to work to find ways to protect cadets and the USAFA mission. Senior Faculty Members Recognized as Permanent Professors
