Student Information System

Launched in June 2022, the United States Air Force Academy’s new Student Information System (SIS) ensures our entire campus community benefits from a more reliable, secure and fully-integrated student information system.


The Academy’s Student Information System is called COMPASS and is composed of several PeopleSoft software suites such as Campus Solutions, Infosilem and Symplicity. Compass supports most aspects of a cadet’s life, from parking, to room assignment and of course academic scheduling, grades and the graduation process.

Here is the link to the dashboard for SIS. It only works on Mission Net or via Global Protect on other networks.

Setting up Global Protect

Global Protect (VPN) – remote access to COMPASS

COMPASS is directly accessible to all customers connected to MissionNet hardwire/wall port and WiFi. When away or on another network (on travel, at home, DREN/EDU…), access to COMPASS requires remote (VPN) connection to MissionNet with Global Protect (GP) client software and GP account.

  1. To request a MissionNet ‘Global Protect’ account, please submit a service request into one of the following processes:
  1. For customers with DREN/EDU (@usafa.edu) imaged machines that do not have Admin privileges to download/install the client software, please contact 10 CS for download/install assistance.
    • 10 CS/CFP: (719) 333-HELP (719-333-4357)
    • Visit the 10 CS Consolidated Service Desk in Fairchild Hall Room 2J17 or the Satellite Office in Building 8110.
  2. For customers with DREN/EDU (@usafa.edu) imaged machines that do have Admin privileges to download/install the client software:
    • Follow the instructions in (1) above to request a Global Protect account
    • When you receive your new account credentials, connect to any network other than MissionNet and open a browser. Click here and follow the instructions to download/install the client software and configure with your credentials
  3. For MissionNet Windows imaged machines:
    • Follow the instructions in (1) above to request a Global Protect account
    • When you receive your new credentials, use the “Self Service Client” icon/link on your Desktop to access the USAFA AppStore.

o   Find and select “Global Protect” to begin installation.
o   Connect to any network other than MissionNet and Click here to configure your account  for remote access to MissionNet.


Blackboard is the Learning Management System (LMS) used at the Academy that stores and organizes all courses’ e-learning content such as videos, audio, documents, assignments, tests, and cadets’ grades in one place. Blackboard keeps track of cadets’ learning activities, so Instructors have a clear overview of student knowledge and progress, and which areas to concentrate efforts in overcoming knowledge deficiencies. Blackboard has multiple APIs to allow integration of software such gradescope, Echo360, YouTube, etc.

Mission Net

The Academy is transitioning specific missions (such as academics) to a commercially hosted network called Mission Net that allows for faster connection speeds and greater bandwidth. The Mission Network (Mission Net) supports most users within the cadet area and allows for greater academic freedom. The Mission Net connects the Academy with the Colorado Front Range Research Consortium, linking major universities along the front range together.

The Academy uses Salesforce as a Customer Relationship Management software tool. Salesforce integrates with our SIS (Compass) to allow data ingest for processes such as new cadet candidates data into COMPASS.
