Bio
Maj Harris K. Butler is an assistant professor within the Department of Mathematical Sciences, Dean of Faculty, United Sates Air Force Academy, Colo. He serves as the deputy director for the core math directorate and teaches a modernized Calculus course to fourth-class cadets.
Maj Butler commissioned from the USAF Academy in 2010, graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Operations Research. In 2012, he earned his Master of Science degree in Operations Research from the Air Force Institute of Technology and earned his PhD in Biostatistics from the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus in 2020. He has served on active duty for fourteen years as an operations research analyst, instructor, executive officer, and branch chief. His previous assignments include Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio, Nellis AFB, Nev., USAF Academy, Colo., and Chantilly, Va. Prior to his current position, the major was a branch chief in the Low Earth Orbit Systems Program Office at the National Reconnaissance Office in Chantilly, Va.
He has deployed in support of Operation Enduring Freedom where he served as an Afghanistan analyst.
