Bio
Lieutenant Colonel Adkins is the Director of Cadet Development and an Assistant Professor of Biology, Department of Biology, U.S. Air Force Academy, Colorado Springs, Colorado. He and his team are responsible for advising and assisting cadets interested in scientific research as well as pursuing careers in the Air Force Medical Service.
Lieutenant Colonel Adkins received a direct commission to the Air Force as a Physician Assistant in 2004. He has served in numerous medical treatment facility assignments, including as a family practice physician assistant in the 88th Medical Group, Wright-Patterson AFB, OH, and as an emergency medicine physician assistant in the 96th Medical Group, Eglin AFB, FL. In addition, Lieutenant Colonel Adkins served as Flight Commander for the Medical Readiness Training Course at Camp Bullis, TX. In 2024, he completed a Ph.D. in Integrative Physiology at the University of Colorado-Boulder, focusing on sleep and chronobiology while studying the effects of sleep inertia on human performance.
