Bio

Maj Joe Ellis is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the U.S. Air Force Academy in Colorado.

Maj Ellis earned his commission in the U.S. Air Force through Officer Training School in 2013 and transferred to the U.S. Space Force in 2021. Throughout his career, he has served in a variety of technical and leadership positions, including Lead Engineer for an Air Force cybersecurity program, Antenna and Electromagnetics Research Engineer, Executive Officer for the Air Force Research Laboratory Sensors Directorate, and Chief Engineer for Space Domain Awareness programs within Space Systems Command.

Maj Ellis holds a Bachelor of Science from the University of California, Davis; a Master of Science from the Air Force Institute of Technology; and a Doctor of Philosophy from the Georgia Institute of Technology, all in electrical engineering. His academic and research interests include signal processing, machine learning, and electromagnetics.
