Major Emily A. Lagarile is an Assistant Professor of Military & Strategic Studies at the U.S. Air Force Academy. She teaches courses on space and cyberspace strategy. Prior to her current position, she attended the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts University as a Chief of Space Operations (CSO) PhD Scholar where she studied international cooperation in periods of great power competition, international security, technology in international affairs, international law, and space policy.

Major Lagarile earned her commission from the Academy in 2015, and went on to hold operations positions in space domain awareness and missile warning, staff positions in component command level readiness and exercises, and worked for the U.S. Space Force’s first Director of Staff at the Pentagon.

Major Lagarile grew up in Overland Park, Kan., and is a resident of Okaloosa County, Fla. Her husband, Scott, is an entrepreneur and has been running his own business since 2019. She and Scott have been married for over 9 years and have three children: Penelope is six years old, Sophie is four years old, and Desmond is one year old.
