Vandenberg Hall is the second-largest university dormitory in the country, after the U.S. Naval Academy’s Bancroft Hall. Named in honor of Gen. Hoyt S. Vandenberg, a distinguished commander during World War II and the second Chief of Staff of the Air Force.
Vandenberg Hall was the U.S. Air Force Academy’s first dormitory on the hill, contains 1,320 cadet rooms, and houses Squadrons 1–23. Along with living quarters, it contains a convenience store, post office, barbershops, supply, counseling offices, an outdoor equipment rental, along with rooms for professional activities, and recreational clubs.
