Bio

Captain Kaleb G. Mitchell serves as Instructor of Chemistry, Dean of Faculty, U.S. Air Force Academy, where he is responsible for educating and mentoring cadets to produce leaders of character for the Department of the Air Force and Nation. He began his Air Force career at the Air Force Technical Applications Center where he served as a nuclear chemist, Deputy Flight Commander, and Chief, Commander’s Action Group, in support of the Department of Defense’s sole international nuclear treaty monitoring mission. After receiving his graduate degree in Chemistry through the Air Force Institute of Technology civilian institution program at the University of Washington, Captain Mitchell was assigned to the Air Force Research Laboratory as Deputy Chief, Fuels and Energy Branch where he led 54 world-class technical experts and oversaw the Department of Defense Fuels Center of Excellence, executing a $7M annual technology development portfolio.

Captain Mitchell received his commission in 2017 as a graduate of the Reserve Officer Training Corps at West Virginia University. Prior to his assignment to the U.S. Air Force Academy, he served as Executive Officer, Headquarters, Air Force Research Laboratory, where he aided the two-star Center Commander and Department of the Air Force Technology Executive Officer with daily operations of a 350-member Headquarters command staff, driving the execution of an $8B annual science and technology portfolio across 12,500 personnel.
