Bio

Captain Matthew Green is an Instructor at the United States Air Force Academy. In this position, he teaches the core aeronautical engineering class every cadet takes to develop the finest Air and Space Force officers in the world who live our core values and have an exemplary foundation in engineering principles. He is also serving as the Deputy Aeronautical Lab Director, overseeing 7 testing facilities providing preliminary research for the AF and industry while educating and inspiring cadets.

Captain Matthew Green was commissioned in May 2019 from the United States Air Force Academy with a Bachelor of Science in Aeronautical Engineering. He has spent the last 5 years on active duty. He completed his master’s degree in mechanical engineering in residence at Rice University, Texas in 2021. Before this assignment Capt Green was a Developmental Engineer at the Center for Rapid Innovation at the Air Force Research Laboratory, Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio. This included leading multidisciplinary personnel across 7 programs to rapidly integrate science and technology prototypes in direct response to urgent, near-term warfighter needs.

Flight vehicle dynamics & control, human-UAV teaming interactions, experimental flight test and wind tunnel test.

Collaborative research interests include use of unmanned aerial systems, trusted autonomy, electric vertical take-off and landing configurations, and digital twins.
