Bio
Maj Lucia R. White is an Instructor of Biology, Department of Biology, United States Air Force Academy, Colorado Springs, Colorado. She was among the first officers to transfer over to the United States Space Force. Having a passion in both space and biology, Maj White received a Master of Science in Botany from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2022, specializing in astrobotany, as part of the USAFA Faculty Pipeline advance academic degree program.
On May 26, 2010, Maj White graduated from your United States Air Force Academy with a Bachelor of Science in Biology. Upon graduation, she became a Force Support officer with her first assignment to Spangdahlem AB, Germany. Among her roles in force support, her most rewarding was her time assisting survivors of sexual assault as the Sexual Assault Response Coordinator both home station and deployed. Upon return from her last deployment spent at Muwaffaq Salti AB, Jordan, she crossflowed over to Space Operations as a 13S in Orbital Warfare. Prior to assuming her current position on the faculty and attending graduate school, she was the Assistant Director of Operation, 2d Space Operations Squadron, Schriever SFB, Colorado. She supervised mission execution of a $11.2B 35-satellite GPS constellation, along with 24/7 combat and civilian operations for 5 billion users globally. She also organized the historic first all-female space operations crew for Satellite Control Authority of a new $500M weapon system.
Maj White finds inspiration in teaching the Artemis generation and looks forward to receiving invitations to space launches from her former students. When she is not teaching or doing research, you can most often find her spending time with her husband and two cats, tending to her plant collection, or indoor skydiving.
