Bio

Captain Megan Upp serves as an Instructor of Biology and the Laboratory and Safety Manager in the Department of Biology, U.S. Air Force Academy, Colorado Springs, Colorado.

Captain Upp graduated from the United States Air Force Academy in 2018 from CS-10 Huzahhh! She was selected for the United States Air Force Academy Graduate Studies Program and obtained her Master’s degree in 2019 from the University of Connecticut in Natural Resources and the Environment. Her research investigated the habitat selection of the Spotfin Killifish (Fundulus luciae) in coastal Connecticut. She then served as a Bioenvironmental Engineer at the 412th Medical Group at Edwards AFB, California, where she held Environmental Health OIC, Occupational Health OIC, and Installation Radiation and Laser Safety Officer positions during her tour until 2023. She led 26 airmen through various programs across Edwards AFB, the Plant 42 GSU, Air Force Research Lab, and NASA. She directed hazardous material responses, commanded the drinking water quality program, developed the Test Wing Laser Safety Program, and drove 12 Wing-level occupational health programs for 41 units across the Test base.

Capt Upp deployed to AB201, Niger, where she served as the Bioenvironmental Engineer OIC.

When she is not mountain biking with her dog, Trek, she can be found fly fishing, also with her dog, Trek.
