Bio

LTC Tyler Jones is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Physics and Meteorology at the US Air Force Academy.  LTC Jones commissioned as an Army officer through the US Military Academy at West Point Air Force ROTC program in 2002.  He has an undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering from USMA and a Master of Science degree from Michigan State University in Physics.

In his 22 years as an active duty Army Military Intelligence Officer, LTC Jones served in leadership positions from platoon to brigade and served as a staff officer up to Army and NATO Joint Force levels.  Additionally, during this time he served two combat tours in Iraq.  He served as a Battalion Assistant S2 from 2003 to 2004 and as a Military Transition Team intelligence officer/advisor during from 2008 to 2009.  After his second combat tour, he attended graduate school and completed a follow on assignment as a physics instructor and assistant professor at West Point.  His most recent assignment prior to instructing at USAFA was as the commander and department head of the ROTC department at Providence College in Rhode Island.
