
Bio
Maj Kevin Burris is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Physics and Meteorology at the US Air Force Academy. He commissioned through the Air Force ROTC program in 2009, and has an undergraduate meteorology degree from Purdue University and graduate degrees from Purdue, Mississippi State, and North Carolina State Universities.
As a Weather and Environmental Sciences Officer, Maj Burris has supported USCENTCOM operations, Research, Development, Testing, and Engineering activities for the 96th Test Wing, Operational Test and Evaluation for the 53rd Wing, various training activities for the 6th Ranger Training Battalion, 7th Special Forces Group, and Naval School Explosive Ordnance Disposal.
Maj Burris deployed as the Executive Officer, 407th Air Expeditionary Group, 332d Air Expeditionary Wing, supporting over 2,600 combat sorties in support of Operation INHERENT RESOLVE. In his previous assignment, he was the Assistant Operations Officer at the 16th Weather Squadron, overseeing the development and operation of environmental software applications on the Air Force’s $322 million high-performance computing data center.
