Lieutenant Colonel Philip Tice

Bio
Lt Col Philip Tice is the Director of International Programs and an Assistant Professor of Arabic and Spanish in the Department of Foreign Languages at the U.S. Air Force Academy (USAFA) in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Prior to arriving at USAFA, Lt Col Tice was the Executive Officer to the Senior Defense Official and Defense Attache at US Embassy Riyadh where he advised and assisted on all DoD activities in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Lt Col Tice completed his PhD at the Ohio State University in 2021 focused on contemporary Arabic language and society. His dissertation examined authentic Tunisian language performances through a sociolinguistic framework with an emphasis on questioning language ideology, diglossic theory, and prestige.
Lt Col Tice entered the Air Force in 2004 as an enlisted linguist and commissioned as an Intelligence Officer through Officer Training School in 2010. He has had assignments in the 55th Wing at Offutt AFB, the National Air and Space Intelligence Center (NASIC) at Wright-Patterson AFB, the LeMay Center for Doctrine Development at Maxwell AFB, The US Air Force Special Operations School (USAFSOS) at Hurlburt Field, and the US Embassies in Muscat, Oman and Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
