Bio

Dr. Alina Gearba-Sell is a Professor and Director of Advanced Programs in the Department of Physics at the U.S. Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colo. She teaches both introductory and advanced physics courses. Dr. Gearba mentors cadets on various research projects of Air Force interest such as alkali laser development, next generation of atomic clocks and coherent optical fields at novel wavelengths. She is the principal investigator of a $300K research grant funded by the National Science Foundation for precision measurements of critical parameters of optical atomic clock ions. Dr. Gearba served as President of the National Society of Physics Students and was a member of the U.S. delegation at the 2023 International Conference of Women in Physics. She is a member of the American Physical Society and Sigma Pi Sigma, the Physics Honor Society.
