Bio

Capt Sean Weathersby grew up in Daphne, Ala., near Mobile Bay. He grew up in a family of 5 with a twin brother and a younger brother. As a child, he was always passionate about outer space. When he took high school physics and first experienced that you could describe the world around you mathematically, he knew immediately he wanted to study engineering, and study engineering about outer space. His parents introduced him to the U.S. Air Force Academy, and he knew instantly that he wanted to attend and study astronautics.

Capt Weathersby graduated from the Academy in 2020 with a B.S. in Astronautical Engineering. He would then continue his studies at the Air Force Institute of Technology, where he would receive his M.S. in Astronautical Engineering and publish a thesis in rocket propulsion. Following his Master’s degree, Capt Weathersby attended USAF Undergraduate Pilot Training, where he ultimately self-eliminated and learned that, while aviation is an incredible career field, it is not quite for him. After Undergraduate Pilot Training, Capt Weathersby pursued engineering as a career rather than just an education, and he spent 3 years in the U.S. Air Force Propulsion Directorate working on additive manufacturing of jet engine parts. In 2025, Capt Weathersby was selected to return to the Academy to teach astronautics, where he is currently stationed.
