Bio

Maj. Jamee M. Boyer is an Instructor and Executive Officer in the Department of Astronautical Engineering at the U.S. Air Force Academy. He teaches undergraduate courses in astronautical engineering while mentoring cadets in research and senior design projects. Maj. Boyer entered the U.S. Air Force in 2010 as an enlisted C-130 Crew Chief before earning his commission through Air Force ROTC at the University of Colorado Boulder in 2016. During his Air Force career, he has served in a broad range of operational, engineering, and leadership assignments, including aircraft maintenance officer, F-16 structural engineer, aircraft configuration manager, and lead test engineer supporting the nation’s intercontinental ballistic missile modernization and sustainment efforts. His diverse operational and technical experience provides students with practical insight into aerospace systems engineering, aircraft maintenance, and space system development.

Maj. Boyer earned a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Colorado Colorado Springs, a Master of Science in Organizational Development and Leadership from the University of the Incarnate Word, and a Master of Science in Aeronautical and Astronautical Engineering from Purdue University through the Air Force Institute of Technology. His graduate research focused on energy harvesting and storage technologies for small satellites, with an emphasis on improving spacecraft power systems for future space missions. He is the author of Energy Harvesting and Storage for Small Satellite Applications and co-author of peer-reviewed research investigating sodium-ion battery technology for renewable energy storage under extreme environmental conditions.

Maj. Boyer’s research interests include rocket propulsion, electric propulsion, spacecraft power systems, advanced battery technologies, photovoltaics, and space systems engineering. His work bridges aerospace engineering and sustainable energy technologies, with particular emphasis on improving the performance and resilience of future spacecraft. At the Academy, he is committed to developing technically proficient officers through excellence in teaching, mentorship, and applied research while preparing the next generation of Air Force and Space Force leaders to solve the complex engineering challenges of the space domain.
