Major Daniel Getty is an Instructor of Astronautics at the U.S. Air Force Academy, Colo.

Major Getty entered active duty in June 2016, commissioning through the Reserve Officer Training Corps at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Following commissioning, he earned a Master of Science in Aerospace Engineering, specializing in Ion Electrospray propulsion systems. He began his career with the 4th Space Control Squadron (later redesignated as the 4th Electromagnetic Warfare Squadron), serving as Executive Officer and Crew Commander. He was then assigned to RAF Waddington, United Kingdom, where he served as the Operations Officer for the 4th Space Control Squadron, Detachment 1. Following this tour, Major Getty attended the Space Test Course at the Air Force Test Pilot School, Edwards Air Force Base, Calif. He then transitioned to the 3rd Space Operations Squadron, serving as the Assistant Director of Operations and later as the Operations Support Flight Commander. He was also temporarily assigned to Shaw Air Force Base, supporting Space Forces Central as an Electromagnetic Warfare Planner. Most recently, Major Getty served as the Aide-de-Camp to the Superintendent of the Academy.
