Bio
Mr. Daniel Brown is a native of Puyallup, Wash., and a 2015 graduate of the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Information Technology. He was among the first 15 West Point graduates selected to commission directly into the U.S. Army’s newly established Cyber branch.
Following his commissioning, Mr. Brown earned a Master’s degree in Information Technology with a concentration in Cybersecurity from Carnegie Mellon University. He went on to serve eight years in the U.S. Army, specializing in Cyber Defense, Threat Intelligence, and Threat Hunting. As a member of the Cyber Protection Brigade, he led and participated in numerous cyber operations overseas in support of U.S. European Command, defending allied and governmental networks against advanced cyber threats.
Prior to his appointment to the Milanovich Chair in 2025, Mr. Brown worked as a Cyber Threat Hunter with the Department of Homeland Security, conducting threat hunt operations to identify and mitigate malicious cyber activity targeting U.S. Government networks.
Mr. Brown is passionate about inspiring future leaders to understand and respect the power of technology. At the U.S. Air Force Academy, he is committed to equipping cadets with the knowledge, mindset, and ethical foundation to responsibly leverage technology as future Air Force officers.
