Student Applicant
Your Path to Success Starts Here
The U.S. Air Force Academy is extremely selective and comes with its own unique set of requirements. Each stage of the admissions process requires different steps. The earlier you start preparing, the greater your chances are of earning an appointment to the Academy. Understanding the Academy’s high standards will help you build an academic and extracurricular resume that meets our needs.
11-12th Grade Student
The application process begins as early as the student’s junior year of high school. After completing the Pre-Candidate Questionnaire, additional steps follow to ensure a complete package.
8-10th Grade Student
Start preparing now! Becoming a competitive applicant begins by increasing your academic rigor, participating in athletics and other activities, and demonstrating leadership potential in your school and community.
College Student
If you’re a current college student still aiming to attend the Academy, it might not be too late.
Former Cadets
As a former cadet, you are still required to compete for an appointment along with other qualified candidates and must secure a nomination. Admissions decisions are made on a case-by-case basis.
Your overall record as a cadet, including the reason for your disenrollment, your achievements since leaving the Academy, and the circumstances and reasons that have caused you to again seek admission will be reviewed.
In all cases, your application will be weighed against the needs of the Air Force and Space Force.
Application Requirements
To be considered for reappointment, you must take all required examinations and submit all required documents.
