Homeschool Program: Solar System, The Inner Planets

Our Solar System, the Inner Planets will be a show all about the diverse set of smaller, solid rocky worlds which inhabit the inner portion of our solar system, aka The First Four
Today’s Homeschool Program will focus on the inner planets, which are a wealth of science knowledge. The science we know from living on Earth can be found on other planets, and we learn things about our home world as we continue to learn more about the other planets in our solar system.
Join Dr. Dan Polsgrove, Astronomer, Planetarium educator and former Astronomy professor here at the Academy, for a detailed discussion of the inner solar system. This will include talk of Earth’s Place in the Universe, the nature and composition of each inner planet, what makes each unique, and some of the missions humans have sent to these worlds to learn more through spacecraft, robotic landers, and rovers!
In addition to the Live portion of the show, the inner planets portion of two of our films, Worlds Beyond Earth and Oasis in Space will be included. These clips will give us additional information and beautiful visuals of the inner planets of our solar system.
NGSS STANDARDS:
This is one of the headings of the NGSS and covers many science standards through all grades.

IMPORTANT NOTE: With our limited seating, if you RSVP and your plans change for any reason, please email Jeff our Planetarium Director at planetarium@afacademy.af.edu so we can release your seats to another family who can attend.
BASE PASS:
Visitors to the Academy MUST have a valid DoW ID card OR they need to request a base pass at least 24 hours in advance with the dated links at the top of the planetarium webpage.
