Weekend of January 10th and 11th
This is your official Air Force Academy History Update for the weekend of January 10th & 11th —
On this weekend, back in 1988 — Academy football player Chad Hennings, Class of ’88, is named Most Valuable Player in the Japan Bowl All-Star game played in Yokohama. He went on to fly A-10 “Thunderbolt IIs” in combat, and then won three Super Bowl rings with the Dallas Cowboys.
…Also on this weekend, in 1996 — Space Shuttle mission STS-72 begins as the orbiter Endeavour blasts off from the Kennedy Space Center in Florida. Brian Duffy, Class of ’75, was the commander of the mission.
