Bio
Major Travis M. Anderson is an Instructor of Management at the U.S. Air Force Academy. Prior to his current position, Maj Anderson served as the Battalion Operations Officer and Executive Officer of 2nd Battalion, 12th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Stryker Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division at Fort Carson, CO. During this time, he deployed in support of the Korea Rotational Force and the Southern Border Security mission. In these roles, he served as chief of staff and second-in-command, responsible for managing daily operations, synchronizing training and mission planning, and coordinating efforts with joint and interagency partners.
Maj Anderson brings extensive leadership and operational experience from both conventional and special operations units. He served as a Troop Commander in 3-61 Cavalry and has completed three combat deployments to Afghanistan. As the Assistant Operations Officer for the 75th Ranger Regiment, he deployed as Chief of Operations for a Joint Task Force at Bagram Airfield, Afghanistan. He has also served as a Squadron Operations Officer, Platoon Leader, Ground Force Commander, and Battle Captain during combat operations across Afghanistan.
Maj Anderson was commissioned as an Infantry Officer in 2010 after graduating from the United States Military Academy at West Point with a Bachelor of Science in Management. He holds a Master of Business Administration from the Stanford Graduate School of Business, a Master of Science in Organizational Leadership from Columbus State University, and a Master of Operational Studies from the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College. His military education includes Ranger School, Jumpmaster, the Maneuver Captain’s Career Course, and the Infantry Basic Officer Leader Course. His awards and recognitions include the Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, the Expert Infantryman Badge, Ranger Tab, Combatives Master Trainer certification, and induction into the Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society.
