Maj Sean T. Peters joined the USAFA faculty upon completion of his PhD at Stanford University. His dissertation focused on US civil-military relations, illustrating the complex interplay between a polarized American society and a military establishment whose professional ethic is being placed under increasing pressure. Prior to his time at Stanford, Major Peters was the Chief of Plans and Programs at the 10^th Air Base Wing, United States Air Force Academy, Colorado. Previous positions included Assistant Director of Operations, evaluator and functional check flight pilot for the USAFA Flying Team, 557^th Flying Training Squadron, USAFA, Colorado.

Born in El Paso, Texas, Maj Peters earned his commission as a distinguished graduate of the United States Air Force Academy in 2010. Maj Peters earned his flying wings from Vance Air Force Base, Oklahoma in 2014 after earning a Master of Public Policy from University of Maryland. He is a senior pilot with over 1000 combat hours and has served as an instructor or evaluator pilot in the KC-10A, T-53, T-41, and T-51.
