Bio

Colonel Joshua C. Egan is the Head of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the United States Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colorado.  In addition to his teaching duties, Colonel Egan leads 23 faculty, staff, and researchers in the instruction of over 1,250 cadets per year.  The department also uses its state-of-the-art laboratories to aid in research efforts supporting a variety of industry and DoD partners.

Col Egan earned his commission in 2000 from the Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps at Brigham Young University where he majored in Electrical Engineering.  He has been a combat qualified pilot in the mighty F-15E and, while serving as an exchange pilot, in the German PA-200 Tornado.  Additionally, he was qualified as an instructor pilot in the F-15C/D/E, F-16, and T-38.  Following his exchange assignment, he served one year in South Korea as the Chief of Air Defense Plans, where he was responsible for the plan to intercept and destroy North Korean ballistic missiles and aircraft.  Deeply immersed in flight test since his graduation from USAF Test Pilot School in 2011, he has conducted test flights in the T-38, F-16, C-12, and the F-15C/D/E.  A permanent party faculty member at Test Pilot School for five years, he spent one year directing the school’s education (academic) division and two years directing the operational (flying) division.  He speaks German and Spanish.

Col Egan is a command pilot with over 2,300 military flight hours in more than 40 aircraft types.  He has 250+ combat
hours flying in OPERATION IRAQI FREEDOM.

His personal interests include hiking and backpacking with his wife and five daughters.

His military interests include winning.
