Sandy was a K-5 elementary teacher for 33 years teaching in several states as well as DoDDS Italy and Germany. After retiring, she became a STEM consultant before joining the USAFA team as the STEM Coordinator. Sandy oversees Dean of Faculty STEM Outreach, which includes over 20 programs with local and nation-wide reach. Some of her responsibilities include coordinating teachers' requests with USAFA faculty and cadet clubs, providing local classrooms with lending library materials, conducting summer STEM camps, teaching science & engineering lessons in local classrooms, and orchestrating classroom visits to research centers. Sandy has a Bachelor of Science degree in elementary education from Baylor University and a double Masters in Elementary Education & Reading from Auburn University.
