Bio

Lieutenant Colonel Givler was originally born in Erie, Pennsylvania, the son of two Air Force parents, but grew up primarily in Charleston, South Carolina.  He earned his commission from AFROTC at the University of South Carolina in May 2006.

Upon commissioning, Lt Col Givler completed initial Space & Missile qualification training. From there he completed 250 nuclear alerts serving in various operational and leadership capacities as a Missileer. From there, Lt Col Givler worked Western Range spacelift operations at Vandenberg, AFB culminating in leading the range team for the first-ever SpaceX Falcon 9 launch off the West Coast. Major Givler went on to assume command of the Air Force’s northernmost satellite tracking station (POGO) in Thule, Greenland. Major Givler then assumed a variety of staff roles at HQ Air Force Space Command, primarily working space operations force development issues. It was during this assignment that Lt Col Givler deployed to the 601st AOC at Tyndall, AFB as the Deputy Director of Space Forces in support of Hurricane Harvey and Irma Relief Operations. At HQ Air Force Space Command, Lt Col Givler took part in and led various teams working such tasks as creating a student pipeline for space operators at Air Force Test Pilot School and designing the original macro-organizational structure of the United States Space Force.
