Bio

Lieutenant Colonel Evelyn A. Schumer is the Chief of the Development Division for the Center for Character and Leadership Development at the U.S. Air Force Academy, Colorado. She supports the Director of the CCLD in all permanent party and cadet professional development, and as the Deputy Director of the Pathways to Excellence Team, she leads innovation and prototyping efforts for the Academy.

Lt. Col. Schumer graduated in 2000 from the U.S. Air Force Academy with athletic honors and a degree in Physics. She was assigned as a Research Physicist at Eglin Air Force Base, Florida. In 2003, she was selected to attend the Air Force Institute of Technology where she received a M.S. in Astrophysics and a Ph.D. in Space Physics. She then returned to the U.S. Air Force Academy where she taught in the Physics and Mathematical Sciences Departments and served on the Dean’s and Superintendent’s Commanders Action Groups.

Lt. Col. Schumer is married to Lt. Col. Ross Schumer. He is an Orthopaedic Surgeon currently assigned to the U.S. Air Force Academy.
