This is your official Air Force Academy History Update for Wednesday, April 8th — 

On this day, back in 1970 — The twelfth annual Air Force Academy Assembly begins.  The topic was “The States and the Urban Crisis.”  The keynote address was given by Daniel Evans, Governor of Washington.  Donald Rumsfeld, Director of the Office of Economic Opportunity, also spoke.  

…Also on this day, back in 2002 — Michael Bloomfield, Class of ‘81, makes his third and final journey into space, this one as commander of STS-110 aboard the Space Shuttle orbiter Atlantis.
