This is your official Air Force Academy History Update for Tuesday, November 25th — 

On this day, back in 1986 Air Force Museum officials sign requisition paperwork transferring an F-4 “Phantom II” to the Air Force Academy.  The aircraft, number AC 66-463, had the highest number of MiG kills (six) of any U.S. aircraft since the Korean War.  The plane is currently on static display at the Academy Terrazzo. 

…Also on this day, back in 2014 Former Academy football coach Ken Hatfield is announced as the 2015 recipient of the Amos Alonzo Stagg Award, an honor given by the American Football Coaches Association to those “whose services have been outstanding in the advancement of the best interests of football.”  Hatfield coached at Air Force from 1978 until 1993.  Former football coach Fisher DeBerry won the award in 2012.
