This is your official Air Force Academy History Update for Thursday, December 11th —

On this day, back in 2017 — The eighth telescope in the Academy’s Falcon Telescope Network is installed at Yoder, Colorado, just east of Colorado Springs. The YDR-Falcon was the fourth Academy telescope observatory in the state.

Also on this day, in 2024 — The Department of the Air Force announces that fifteen individuals have “received the 2024 Presidential Rank Award for their outstanding leadership, unwavering integrity and enduring commitment to public service.” Among the honorees was Retired Colonel Ronald Ratton, Class of ‘85, who was recognized for his work as command counsel for Air Force Materiel Command at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio.
