On this day, back in 1968 — Colonel Daniel “Chappie” James Jr. is the guest speaker at the Class of ‘68’s 100th Night Dining-In at the Officers’ Open Mess. In 1975, he would become the U.S. armed forces’ first African American four-star general.
…Also on this day, back in 2017 — The twenty-fourth National Character and Leadership Symposium begins at the Academy. The theme was “Warrior Ethos and the American Airman.”
