Lieutenant Colonel Jared Dahle
Deputy Department Head, Assistant Professor, & Director of Operations

Bio
Lt Col Dahle is the Deputy Department Head and Assistant Professor of Biology, Department of Biology, U.S. Air Force Academy, Colorado Springs, Colorado. He implements undergraduate coursework designed to increase critical thinking skills and develop clear scientific communication, especially around the topic of human nutrition.
Lt Col Dahle received a direct commission to the Air Force as a Dietetic Intern at Wilford Hall Medical Center in 2002. He has served in numerous medical operational support assignments throughout his career with emphasis on critical care nutrition and community nutrition focused on disease prevention and weight management. In 2006, he deployed to Balad, Iraq during Operation Iraqi Freedom, where he worked as part of an integrated medical team to stabilize critically injured U.S. and allied troops so they could be transported from Iraq to higher echelons of care. In 2012, he expanded his educational focus to include exercise science, earning a M.S. with an emphasis on sports performance enhancement and injury prevention. Upon being accepted as an instructor at the United States Air Force Academy (USAFA) in 2014, he completed a second M.S. with a focus on biomechanics at Utah State University, in Logan, Utah. After 2 years of teaching at the Academy, Lt Col Dahle was selected to complete a PhD, which he earned at the University of Colorado, Denver at the Anschutz Medical Campus in Aurora. His dissertation focused on human metabolism. Lt Col Dahle has course directed multiple classes at USAFA, to include Introductory Biology, Human Nutrition, Optimizing Human Performance, and Biomechanics. He recently earned the Tactical Strength and Conditioning Facilitator (TSAC-F) certification from the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA). He resides in the Colorado Springs area with his wife.
