Bio

Col Tammy L. Schlichenmaier is the Commander, Cadet Group Four, Commandant of Cadets, U.S. Air Force Academy, Colorado Springs, Colorado. She is responsible for motivating, training, and developing 10 squadrons comprised of 1,100 cadets into officers of character culminating in an undergraduate degree and commission in the U.S. Air and Space Forces.

Col Schlichenmaier commissioned through Officer Training School in 1999. Upon graduation, she was assigned to Offutt Air Force Base as a personnel officer until 2003 when she was assigned to Minot Air Force Base, North Dakota. Later, while assigned to the U.S. Air Force Warfare Center at Nellis Air Force Base, Col Schlichenmaier deployed to Southwest Asia in support of Operations IRAQI FREEDOM and ENDURING FREEDOM. Upon her move to Randolph Air Force Base, she was selected to augment the provisional Air Force Global Strike Command staff, standing up a new Air Force Major Command. Col Schlichenmaier concluded her Air Force Personnel Center tour as the senior recorder for the Air Force Selection Board Secretariat.

She has commanded squadrons both in garrison and in the CENTCOM AOR in support of Operations INHERENT RESOLVE and FREEDOM'S SENTINEL. After completing her second command, Col Schlichenmaier was selected to attend the U.S. Army War College in Carlisle, Pennsylvania Her follow-on assignment from the war college was to the Secretariat staff in the Pentagon, Washington, D.C. During her Pentagon tour, Col Schlichenmaier led the Office of the Assistant Secretary of the Air Force for Manpower and Reserve Affairs efforts to create the U.S. Space Force, the first new military service since 1947.
Col Schlichenmaier was then selected as the Senior Executive Officer to the first Chief of Space Operations, Pentagon, Washington, D.C. Prior to assuming her current position, the Colonel served as the HQ U.S. Air Force Academy Inspector General.
