Bio
Robert Umholtz graduated from Miami University in 2005. He attended Combat Systems Officer training at Randolph Air Force Base, Texas. Upon earning his wings, Robert selected RC-135s at Offutt Air Force Base, Nebraska.
He then flew on the Open Skies, Constant Phoenix, Cobra Ball, and Combat Sent, all variants of the OC/WC/RC-135, as a part of the 45th Reconnaissance Squadron. He upgraded to Instructor/Evaluator Navigator, deployed multiple times in support of Operations Enduring Freedom and Iraqi Freedom, and Operation Tomodachi. Simultaneously, he received his Master’s Degree in Diplomacy from Norwich University.
Robert was then selected for the Advanced Academic Degree/Faculty Pipeline Program and attended the University of New Hampshire and earned his Master’s Degree in History, focusing on Russian History.
Robert then went back to Offutt Air Force Base in 2016 to complete another operational tour and was selected to be the Detachment 1 Commander for the Air Force Technical Applications Center (AFTAC). In 2017 he was selected to attend Air Command and Staff College (ACSC).
Following ACSC, Robert went to Ramstein Air Base, Germany to work on USAFE/AFAFRICA Staff in the Exercise Division where he completed his time as a Deputy Division Chief. During his time at USAFE, Robert was deployed to Iraq as a Joint Air Component Coordination Element (JACCE) to Special Operations Joint Task Force in support of Operation Inherent Resolve.
