Captain Matthias Born is a Chemistry Instructor within the Department of Chemistry at the U.S. Air Force Academy, Colorado.
Capt Born commissioned in 2013 as an ROTC graduate of the University of Colorado, Boulder Detachment 105 while attending the University of Colorado, Colorado Springs, earning his Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry. He later earned his Master’s degree in Chemistry from the University of Florida, with an emphasis in Analytical Chemistry. Capt Born was a rocket propellent chemist while assigned to the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) Aerospace Systems Directorate, Rocket Propellent Branch, and was an instructor of science while assigned to the Air Force Academy Preparatory School. Prior to his current position, he served as a deputy branch chief in the Environmental Modeling and Simulation Flight, 24th Analysis Squadron, Air Force Technical Applications Center.
