Bio

Dr. Kerry McCaig is the Deputy Head of Student Academic Services and Director of the Academic Success Center. Her position is under the umbrella of the Student Academic Affairs and Academy Registrar, US Air Force Academy. Dr. McCaig earned her PhD in Higher Education Administration from Florida State University. Cognate fields of specialization include: Learning Theory, Curriculum Design, Human Resource Development, and Assessment Research. She is an accomplished higher education administrator with comprehensive experience in academic and student affairs which provide a rich contextual foundation for addressing complex issues and instructional opportunities. She is a consummate educator with extensive administrative and faculty experience focused on learning-centered educational techniques, the development of life-long learning, and soliciting behaviors that exhibit student empowerment of high levels of personal and societal responsibility.

Her positions reflect proven ethical leadership in creating and implementing programs that are dynamic and innovative. She is committed to post-secondary learning environments that are rigorous and emphasize critical thinking, synthesis, and synergy at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. Her faculty and administrative experience include service at five universities (small private and large and small public; large public) and three community colleges all committed to access, opportunity, and academic excellence. She has taught a plethora of different courses throughout her career at both the graduate and undergraduate level. Furthermore, she has been responsible for departmental, divisional, and institutional administrative initiatives promoting seamless and comprehensive education.

Currently at the US Air Force Academy, Dr. McCaig supervises approximately 15 high-performing professionals in the Academic Success Center. As Deputy Head of the Student Academic Affairs and Academy Registrar, she assists with the implementation of many service agency tasks that are critical for the matriculation and graduation of the cadets (e.g., academic advising, scheduling, registration, graduation).

As a hobby, Dr. McCaig is a mountaineer and hikes and climbs many mountains and loves the out-of-doors.
