This is your official Air Force Academy History Update for Wednesday, September 10th — 

On this day, back in 1989 — The first night football game in Falcon Stadium is held.  Portable lights were brought in for the 45-10 victory over Wyoming that was televised on ESPN. 

…Also on this day, back in 2016 — Three cadets from the Academy’s Wings of Blue parachute team jump from the Goodyear blimp into Bristol (Tennessee) Motor Speedway prior to the University of Tennessee – Virginia Tech football game.  They jumped from an altitude of 2,600 feet to deliver the official game ball to ESPN’s College GameDay.  The game drew 156,990 fans, setting a record for the largest crowd to see a college football game, which Tennessee won 45-24.
