This is your official Air Force Academy History Update for Tuesday, Tuesday March 11th- 

On this day, back in  1982  —  The design and plans for Washington D.C.’s Vietnam Veterans Memorial receive final approval.  The Memorial, designed by Maya Lin, would contain the names of more than 58,000 Americans who gave their lives in service to their country, including some 150 Air Force Academy graduates.  The Memorial was dedicated on November 13, 1982. 

…Also on this day in 2021  —  Piloted by Lieutenant Colonels Richard Turner and Jacob Lindaman, both Class of ‘03, the first F-15 EX “Eagle 2” aircraft arrives at Eglin Air Force Base, Florida.  It was the first F-15 delivered to the Air Force in 17 years.
