Bio

Major Kyle Ratliff serves as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Law at the United States Air Force Academy, Colorado.  He teaches the core course, Law for Air Force Officers, which all cadets must take; Criminal Law; and Trial Advocacy.  Major Ratliff also coaches the USAFA Mock Trial team.

Major Ratliff received his commission as an Air Force Judge Advocate through the ROTC one-year college program and entered active duty in January 2016. In 2015, he received his Juris Doctorate from The University of Notre Dame Law School and holds a Bachelor of Arts in Government from Angelo State University. Prior to law school, Major Ratliff worked at the Supreme Court of the United States as a Marshal's Aide and Case Analyst. After graduating law school, Major Ratliff served as the Acting Emergency Applications Clerk/Staff Attorney at the Supreme Court of the United States before entering the United States Air Force JAG Corps.

As an Air Force JAG, Major Ratliff has served in various roles as a legal advisor, prosecutor, Area Defense Counsel, and professor. Major Ratliff has been stationed at Edwards AFB, California; F. E. Warren AFB, Wyoming; and the U.S. Air Force Academy, Colorado. He is admitted to practice law before The Supreme Court of Texas, The United States Air Force Court of Criminal Appeals; and The United States Court of Appeals for the Armed Forces.
