Instructor/ Manager of the USAFA Outdoor Leadership Complex (OLC)
Bio
Book serves as Instructor of Adventure/Experiential Based Learning and Manager of the USAFA Outdoor Leadership Complex (OLC), U.S. Air Force Academy Center for Character and Leadership Development (CCLD), where she is responsible for advancing the understanding, sharing, practice and integration of character and leadership development through experiential learning methodology and activities. She manages operations and management of the OLC, staff, and programming that takes place on it. CCLD’s mission is to serve USAFA by advancing character and leadership development in preparation for service to the nation.
Ms. Book is a certified Level 2 ACCT Challenge Course Facilitator and industry professional of 15 years. During her career, Ms. Book has applied experiential learning methodology in various fields to include summer camps, corporate teambuilding, time-share resident relations, fitness facilities & programming, eco-adventure, and higher education. Her career path brought her to USAFA in 2018 as a contractor and she then converted to DoD civilian in May 2020.
Ms. Book has been involved in The Association of Challenge Course Technology (ACCT), industry standard body, as a member and worked with ACCT affiliated organizations building curriculum, training, and programming focused on leadership and facilitation development.
