Bio

Lt Col Taren Wellman is an Assistant Professor for the Department of Law at the U.S. Air Force Academy, Colo. She teaches the core course, Law for Air Force Officers.

Lt Col Wellman was a distinguished graduate of the U.S. Air Force Academy in 2006 where she majored in legal studies and minored in German. She earned her law degree from the University of Montana through the Air Force’s funded legal education program and a masters of law degree in labor law from the George Washington University. Prior to law school, Lt Col Wellman served as a logistics readiness officer at Beale Air Force Base. As a JAG, Lt Col Wellman has served as a prosecutor, area defense counsel, and Branch Chief in the Air Force Labor Law Field Support Center. She has also twice deployed in the role of detainee operations at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. Lt Col Wellman is admitted to practice law before the Supreme Court of Montana, the Court of Federal Claims, the Court of Appeals for the Armed Forces, and the U.S. Supreme Court.
