Bio

I am a native of Alabama. I graduated from the University of Alabama at Birmingham with a B.A. in philosophy, a second major in history, and a minor in German. I sang in three choral groups in college, including a 9-16 voice a cappella group that focused on classical repertoire in Latin, German, and, to a lesser degree, English and French. Prior to college, I took 11 years of classical piano lessons. After college, I moved to Arizona to study for my doctorate in philosophy; I specialized in ethics and social and political philosophy and wrote my dissertation on Self-Respect.

I have been at U.S. Air Force Academy for several years now. As with my colleagues, most of my teaching is the core course, but I have also taught Introduction to Philosophy, Philosophy of Religion, Medical Ethics, Philosophy of Law, political philosophy (under a different title), and War, Morality, and the Military Profession.
