Bluebard’s Spring Production

Date: May 23, 2024 at 7:00pm
Location: Arnold Hall Theatre, USAFA

This spring, Bluebards Cadet Theatre Troupe will present Frank Loesser and Abe Burrows’ classic musical comedy, “How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying.” This musical took Broadway by storm in 1961, running over 1,000 performances and winning both the Tony Award for best musical and the Pulitzer Prize in drama.
Recommended for ages 12+ due to adult themes and mildly suggestive humor/innuendos.
Shows in the Arnold Hall Theatre: May 23, 26, and 27, 2024 at 7 p.m.
Open to the public and admission is free (no ticket is required). Seating is open (first come, first seated).

“How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying” traces the meteoric rise of plucky and puckish J. Pierrepont Finch, who uses a self-help book to climb the corporate ladder and transition from lowly window washer to high-powered executive at World Wide Wickets, Inc.

The production pokes fun at the shallowness, patriarchy, elitism, sexism, cronyism, and general cynicism of the post-World War II business world, and its biting commentary on hierarchies is just as relevant today. It also features a jazzy score with such beloved Broadway standards as “The Company Way,” “I Believe in You,” “Happy to Keep His Dinner Warm,” and “Brotherhood of Man.”
