Rodeo Club

Cadet 1st Class Robert Ball poses with his horse, Ferg, out of the U.S. Air Force Academy Rodeo Club barn.

The U.S. Air Force Academy Rodeo Club was started in 2009 by cadets. Members not only compete throughout the state, they also actively volunteer in the local community.

The 50-member club meets twice a week. On Mondays, cadet members focus on horsemanship and conditioning their horses. Wednesdays are used for practicing and improving their skills in individual events. There are also plenty of opportunities to groom and clean the horses. Club members are able to discuss challenges they are experiencing with their horses and learn from one another.

The club coach teaches basic roping skills and helps the team improve their abilities. The variety of available equipment ensures everyone can practice their skills with their horses. In the arena, members also develop leadership and teamwork skills.
